He wants to destroy a community life project that, since 1993, has been home to around a hundred people and many social initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the very beginning, Los Blokes Fantasma aimed to be more than just a house. It set out to be an open space where counterculture could be created and shared, outside the commodification of time and leisure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This building was constructed nearly 40 years ago. The owner, from a family of large property holders in this city, abandoned it before finishing construction\u2014without paying the workers and putting neighbors\u2019 lives at risk by leaving a crane exposed to the wind above nearby homes. After his death, his children did not claim the inheritance until now\u2014only once all the debts had expired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the many reasons to defend Los Blokes Fantasma is that it is part of a broader struggle to build a different model of life. And in this struggle, we are many\u2014coming from different places, but with a shared goal: to build a world beyond oppression and material accumulation. A world that fiercely defends the right to housing over the right to private property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Access to housing has become the slavery of the 21st century and is essential to sustaining capitalism. How many people would leave their shitty jobs if they didn\u2019t have to pay rent?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For us, just as the land belongs to those who work it, homes belong to those who live in them. In other words, we want for everyone what we want for ourselves: we want everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want housing for everyone. For those without legal status, for students, workers, the unemployed, those who care for others, and those who dedicate their time to social causes without financial compensation. We don\u2019t want anyone speculating about housing. Above all, we don\u2019t want to leave anyone behind. We refuse to be complicit in the commodification of housing, and in this struggle, our tool is occupation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But we won\u2019t settle for just that. We want to end the plundering of natural resources that this model of city entails, based on mass tourism. We want to stop satisfying the whims of the rich. We want resources to be distributed according to needs, and contributions to be made according to ability. We want no one to be able to accumulate wealth\u2014so that poverty can be brought to an end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want Los Blokes Fantasma for everyone.
